Happy Birthday Glossy Box

Yesterday I received my May Glossy Box which also happens to be their 1st birthday anniversary box 'Happy 1st Birthday Glossy Box'. I know this was a box that most people anticipated and I hope most of you were not disappointed in the box. 

This is what I got in my anniversary box. 

Left to Right: Noble Isle Bath and Shower Gel, Apivita Masks (full size £3.50), Osmo Hair Treatment (Full Size £19.99), Lolita Lempicka Eau de Parfume/Si Lolita (Full Size £65/£63), Eldore False Eyelashes (Full Size £3.90) and Glossy Box Mirror and Happy Birthday Ballon. 

The products were wrapped up in lovely birthday paper and I will totally use this paper again in some way has it is to nice to throw away. 

I enjoyed this box but I didn't like the fragrance samples as I don't really use them and they will just get throw in my bag or into a box, but I did enjoy the hair treatment as I love hair treatments and this will be brilliant size for holiday as its small and will not take up to much room in your suitcase. I also like the fact that the box came with Eldora False Eyelashes and as I am an eyelashes virgin I will totally be put these into good use on my birthday night out in 3 months time.

My First Ever Beauty Box - Glossy Box & Harrod March 2012

Hello I hope you are having a wonderful day whatever you are doing.
I am going to discuss my opinion on my first ever beauty box that I have currently received. Beauty boxes have been around for a while now but have become more popular in the UK over the last six months and these have always be something I that I have been interested in.

So about a two weeks ago I decided to take the big step and finally sign up to a beauty box service and it was difficult to decide which one to go with, as today there is so many to choose between. But over the last week or so I have found out the two beauty boxes are now to join forces these being Glossy Box and Carmine with Carmine no longer trading under their name. 


In the end I decided upon Glossy Box, the main reason for this was due to the fact it was the first one I initially heard of with in the UK especially has they become very popular with the beauty industry and also the March box I received was their special edition box in which they joined forces with the well known London store Harrods.


I was thinking this will be a fanatic box as Harrods is known for its high to very high end make up, so this is what I was expecting from this box. 


This is what I received in my March Glossy Box

Left To Right: 

Bliss Body Butter, Leighton Denny Nail Polish, Varsace Perfume, ReVive Intensite Creme Lustre and Clarins Body Cream 

1) Bliss Blood Orange and White Pepper Body Butter
Retails for around £20 (200 ml) 

This product reminds me of the drink Tango Orange, but it does make you body feel smooth after using the product. But I wouldn't have brought this myself due to the price as I do feel £20 for the full size is a bit to much for a body butter when you can get one similar much cheaper on the high street. 

2) ReVive Intensite Creme Lustre SPF30

Retails £235 

I cannot believe this product retails of £235 when I found this out I was like OMG. I haven't try this that the moment as I don't want to fall in love with this product has I am totally not re-buying this product. 

3) Clarins - Extra Firming Body Cream 

Retails for £39.50 

I was annoyed that it was another body cream as I believe one is enough in a beauty box and don't really see why they added another one. I currently haven't try this out as I want to use this when I go away over the Easter weekend to see friends. But I have heard good stuff about this product so hopefully it will hold up to everything I have heard. 

4) Varsace - Vanitas Eau de Parfum 

Retails for £45 (30 ml) 

This was lovely to receive has it smells wonderful and it's a lovely size to have in your handbag without taking up to much room. I don't think I would purchase the full bottle for myself as I can't spending that much on myself but if anyone wants to buy this for me I will be a happy bunny and love you for ever. 

5) Leighton Denny High Performance Nail Colour - Honey Trap

Retails for £11 (12 ml) 

This was my favourite product out of the five as I love nail polishes and this is just a beautiful light mushroom colour and one that I currently don't have in my nail polish collection and I will be totally wearing this over spring. 

Overall I liked the box but the 2 body creams where a disappoint as one is enough. I know that a lot of fellow Glossy Box subscribes were disappoint with their boxes due to it not having the Burberry Miniature Lipstick and I would say I was also disappointed that I didn't receive this, if I was Glossy Box I would have given the Burberry Lipstick to everyone but then change up the other four products and this may have stop the two body creams in the boxes. 

I have decided to carry on my subscription for the April box and I will then decide from then if to carry on or unsubscribe.

Valentine Gifts

So its that time of year again when "couples" are meant to show their love for one another with gifts ever big or small. But you don't need a partner to buy valentine gifts for, you can buy them for yourself, friends and maybe family members, anyone you love. 

This gift guide will give you some ideas of what valentine gifts are available on the high street this year and there is lots to choose from. 

Bath/Shower

I Love Strawberries and Milkshake Bath Creme 500 ml 

Retails for £2.05 from Superdrugs, Morrison's and Co-op 

 This product comes from the I Love cosmetic range and comes in loads of different scents from Vanilla and Ice Cream to Blueberry and Smoothie, so more for me to try out which is always good. These smell brilliant, they are not over powering and they can be used as bubble bath or as shower gel which is always a bonus if you are watching the purse strings. 

Nail Polishes

Barry M.  Raspberry 

Retails for £2.99 from Boots and Superdrugs 

Nail polishes make nice gifts as a polish can change a persons hands straight away.

Most companies will bring out ever a nail polish or a range of nail polishes in colours that are normally associated valentine (Red and Pink). 

One such company is MUA that is available in Superdrugs who have just brought out they love heart range which includes nail polishes and lip balms. I try to purchase some of this range in my local Superdrugs with no joy. 

But I did see this lovely colour from the Barry M range. Barry M nail paints as there are called is a good choice of gift as they come in arrange of different colours and good value for money as most of their nail paints cost £2.99. These are easy to apply and two coats will give you the look you want. 

The only down side to the nail paints I would say is to not apply them when you are in a rush and always use a top coat to stop them chipping so quickly. 

Perfume

Lacoste - Touch of Pink 

Retails from around £25.00 in most perfume stores.

Perfume is always a nice gift to give or receive as it shows that the person has been really thought about as a scent can tell many stories. 

A scent that I think is good for valentine is Lacoste Touch of Pink I received this as a gift myself and I just fell in love with it. Its smells very girly and reminds me of days on the beach as its a very youthful scent. 

DVD'S

Moulin Rouge

Retails from £2.99 at many retail stores

A DVD is always a good choice of gift has it is something the receipted will have for a long time. Around valentine most of the romantic genre of films makes a come back into stores and one that I feel as shown the test of time is Baz Luhrmann film Moulin Rouge which stars Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor. The reason I feel this is a perfect valentine film is because it shows how hard people will work for love and even if you work hard for it you may not always get the result you want. 

Old Fashion Ideas 

Flowers and Chocolates

If you are ever stuck for ideas or want to do it the old fashion way you can never go wrong with a box of chocolates and a bunch of flowers. The flowers can be roses but why not try and find out what is the persons favourite flower and get a bunch of them it will show them you have though about them loads.

January Favourites 2012

This is my first monthly favourites and what a better way to start then with the first month of the new year. Still can't believe its February already, January seemed to go so fast this year even know normally January seems to go slow due to just having Christmas and not having the money to do anything.

So lets begin I have seven products to show you arranging from skin care to hair and nails.

Left To Right:

Witch - Foaming Face Wash

This particular product is a foaming face wash cleanser that controls the oils within the skin. My skin is very oily especially in the T-Zone area and I found this product is helping me loads since I first started to use this and it does what it says on the bottle. 

It does work on all skin types but especially on oily to combination skin like mine. But it does say use with caution on sensitive skin. 

A little goes a long way you only need to use a small amount as it will foam more as you use it. 

Clean & Clear - Dual Action Moisturiser 

Retails from around £1.99 — £3.55 

from most store's 

This product is from the Clean & Clear range and is oil free moisturiser and helps in preventing spots and blemishes. This moisturiser helps my skin has most moisturisers I have try makes my skin even more oily than it is but with this being oil free this is not the case, it helps to moisturises my skin and it stays like that most of the day which I like. 

This product works on all skin types and is fragrance free, like the cleanser a little goes a long way. 

Schwarzkopf got 2b Glued - Blasting Freeze Spray

My mummy got me into this, the product is from Schwarzkopf, which most people know for hair dye. This is one of their hair sprays and has the bottles name suggest it holds the hair style like glue but before you panic it does not feel like glue in your hair actually it feels like you have don't really have hair spray in and it brushes out easy. 

I find that I don't need to use to much like I would other hairsprays to get the same look which is always a bonus on the purse strings. 

Soap And Glory - Hand Food 

Retails at £4.85 for 125 ml (what the picture is) and £2.35 for a travel size of 50 ml

I love this product from Soap and Glory and I carry a travel sizes bottle with me everywhere. This is a non-greasy hand cream that as Shea Butter, Macadamia oil and Marshmallow (weird I know). This smells lovely and I don't think I will find another hand cream that I am in love with has much for a long time. 

This especially helps with the weather we are having that the moment (its very cold indeed, today it is -2 where I am) has helps to smooth and soften dry, chapped hands. But don't use this on irritated or damaged skin. 

Palmer's - Cocoa Butter Formula 

Retails from £2.95 to £3.80 

from most store's 

This is a body cream and its just brilliant I first fell in love with this product about two years ago has I had marks on my skin that I wanted to somehow blend in with the rest of my skin. My friend suggested this product but that first I was not sure but in the end I went ahead with it and I am glad I did.

I fell back in love with this body cream this month especially as with my body being very dry due to the time of year. 

The product does nearly everything it softens, smoothes and relieves dry skin plus it helps with blending marks, scares and stretch marks and also can be used has an after tanning butter. So you don't need to buy loads of different body creams. 

Diesel - Loverdose

Retails from £28.99 - £40.00

at most perfume store's 

My parents brought this perfume for me has a Christmas present and I do have to say thank you to them has this is a lovely perfume. I have worn this all month and I will most likely be wearing it all February has well as I love it loads. 

It a perfume that I feel that can be worn all seasons as it is not overly powering. The bottle is shaped as a heart which is lovely. 

And finally:

Barry M. Nail Paint - Navy 292

From Boots and Superdrugs

Barry M. Nail Prints come in arrange of different colours and I love them all. I have loads of these nail paints and they are just brilliant this month I have been wearing mostly this navy colour has I wear more dark colours then brights in the winter. 

It takes one to two coats to get the glossy look and it doesn't chip so easy like others especially it you use a top coat. 

My nails took two coats to get them looking like this.
